About us

Umoya is the brainchild of Georgie Friederichs, a Dutch national whose heart was stolen by the Cape when she first visited in 1994. Since then, Georgie and her family have travelled extensively throughout the African continent spending time in Zimbabwe, Botswana, Tanzania, and Namibia. For the last two and a half years they have called Hout Bay home and even extended their family with the addition of Tamba and Winston, both much loved fur kids. Building Umoya has been a labour of love as Georgie and her partners were clear in their vision of creating a space that would provide other visitors to the Cape an authentic experience.
